  1. Search in the right places
    • Pubmed, or other subject databases as needed
    • Use the Pubmed link in this guide to get to UCSD holdings
    • Sort by relevance, not date
    • Use handbooks, encyclopedias, etc. for a more general overview
  2. Find 1 good article 
    • Use references inside the article
    • Use related articles
  3. Use Review articles
  4. Use most cited lists (in Web of Science)
  5. Keep searching
    • Use a variety of keywords and synonyms
    • Build an argument using different points of view
