Your options for connecting to library resources from off-campus locations are to use the web VPN, or the full VPN. For those with access to the hospitals remote login system (through EPIC or the Clinical Web Portal), that may also be an option, but unfortunately, the Library has no details on ithis.
You will need to use your user name & password (a.k.a., active directory login) to access the web VPN. Leave the group setting as the default "Easy Connect" and sign in. The trick with this tool is that you could easily slip out of the web VPN and not realize it. Be sure to use links within the web pages you are on and do not use the browser's address bar.
VPN: Virtual Private Network
Use this link to find directions for the type of computer you have. This method requires the installation of software, so you need to have the appropriate permissions on the computer for installing software. The whole computer will be covered by the VPN, not just the web browser.
Please let us know if you have any questions. You can contact Sue or Karen using the links on the side, or just ask questions using our various online tools:
Old Fashioned Email
During office hours (10 am - 4 pm), we should reply in about an hour, and if not, you should have an answer within 24 hours.
Gotta Have It Now - UC Chat
Chat with a librarian any time of the day (24/7). It may not always be a UCSD librarian, but our partners give great responses and if we need to chime in, we can the next business day.
