SciFinder-n: What Is SciFinder-n?

SciFinder-n is one of the most comprehensive databases for the chemical literature. You can search by topic, author, substances by name or CAS Registry Number. Using the CASDraw Editor, ChemDoodle if you're on a tablet, or by importing from ChemDraw, you can also search by chemical structures, substructures, or reactions.

It's a core research tool for chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, nanotechnology, physics, environmental science and other science and engineering disciplines. Depending on your research, SciFinder-n is complementary to other databases like ReaxysWeb of SciencePubMedCompendex and INSPEC.

SciFinder-n Content

  • The CAS Registry of more than 204 million organic and inorganic substances (including alloys, coordination compounds, minerals, mixtures, polymers, and salts), AND 69 million protein and nucleic acid sequences.
    • Many of the substances include experimental and predicted physical properties, spectra, commercial availability and pricing, and bioactivity data
  • 59+ million references references to journal articles, patents, books, conference proceedings, and dissertations from 1907 to present, with selected coverage back to the early 1800s. All with English language summaries/abstracts.
  • 150 million+ single and multi-step reactions from 1840 to present, including including organometallics, total syntheses of natural products, and biotransformation reactions..
    • Enhanced with yield data, detailed reaction conditions, and experimental procedures.

Also

  • CAS Formulus - an integrated formulations database and workflow solution. With curated information from patents and journals spanning various industries.
  • CAS Analytical Methods - a single source for searching and comparing the latest published scientific methods across multiple fields of study, providing easy to read experimental details.
