FRED - Federal Reserve Economic Data
Download, graph, and track 61,000 US and international time series from 48 sources. From the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Includes a range of U.S. and international economic data (price indexes, exchange rates, interest rates, GDP, trade balances, etc.). Useful features include easy browsing for U.S. regional data (states, MSAs, counties, BEA regions, Fed districts, Census divisions) and links to Liber8, the Fed's portal to current economic indicators, research and recent reports, and GeoFRED, a data-mapping tool which displays color-coded employment data on the state, MSA, and county levels.
Global Financial Database [UCSD Only]
Financial and economic data covering over 150 countries and over 6,500 historical and current data series. Bonds, T-bills, unemployment, GDP, commodity prices, exchange rates, and more, some dating back to 1900. Note: To access, use the “Login Anonymously” option and choose GFDatabase in the left nav bar.
Global Insight [UCSD only]
Global Insight provides access to the 4 Basic Economics Databases covering U.S. economic, financial, and demographic statistics. Concepts available are U.S. trade, population, production, income, housing, employment, and finance. Data series are available at daily, weekly, and monthly frequencies with history from 1946. Although licensed users can search more than 100 Global Insight databases, data downloads are limited to BASIC, BASIC/D, BASIC/FX, and BASIC/W.

Basic Economics - contains approximately 6,000 monthly, quarterly, and annual time series that date back to 1946 when available.
Weekly - contains approximately 500 weekly time series that date as far back as 1959 where applicable. Whenever possible, monthly counterparts are available in the Economics database.

FX - the Daily and FX contain about 700 financial variables, commodity prices, interest rates and foreign exchange rates from various agencies.

The ICPSR, part of the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan, has served social scientists since 1962 by providing a central repository and dissemination service for machine-readable social science data from over 130 countries. ICPSR holdings include over 1000 public opinion polls from around the world, including United States election exit polls. ICPSR archives the Eurobarometer series and the ISSP.

A set of surveys designed to gather information at multiple points in time on the labor market activities and other significant life events of several groups of men and women. For more than 4 decades, NLS data have served as an important tool for economists and other researchers.

ProQuest Statistical Insight
Provides access to statistics produced by federal agencies, states, intergovernmental organizations, and private enterprise with its advanced Search Tables functionality. Also includes access to ProQuest Statistical Datasets, which allows researchers to build statistical tables, graphs, and maps from multiple sources. VoxGov
Includes a broad range of official and ephemeral information resources issued by federal agencies, individual officials and candidates, and other organizations from all branches of the U.S. Federal Government, and links that content to publicly accessible government documentation. Includes social media, official media releases, legislation, regulations, and a variety of government documents from Congress and the Executive branches. Textual data can be visualized in word clouds, tree maps, bubble graphs, and terms view graphs. Users who sign up for an account and agree to additional terms of service can download a small number of full documents; researchers and students with non-commercial, academic projects can apply with VoxGov for additional bulk data download credentials.

Behavioral /Experimental Economics

Roper Center for Public Opinion Research
1935-Present
Located at the University of Connecticut, the Roper Center is the principal archive for summary-level (aggregate) and micro-level (raw) public opinion survey data from the major polling organizations in the United States as well as some polls from foreign countries. The complete texts of questions, response categories, response percentages, survey organization, sponsor, field dates, sample and sample size are included. All major U.S. polling organizations and polling sponsors are represented in the archive, including: Gallup, ICR, Ipsos, PSRI, RoperASW, Wirthlin Worldwide, Yankelovich Partners; ABC News, CBS News, CNN, Los Angeles Times, NBC News, New York Times, Time, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Kaiser Family Foundation, Pew Center for the People and the Press and academic research centers.

American National Election Studies (ANES) [Public]

Nielsen Marketing Data Sets
UC San Diego subscribes to Nielsen marketing data from the Chicago Booth School of Business. The James M. Kilts Center for Marketing at Chicago Booth and the Nielsen Company have partnered to make four datasets available to US-based academic researchers. There are special restrictions on data access and use. Read the instructions before requesting access.

AidData
AidData is a collaborative initiative to provide products and services that promote the dissemination, analysis, and understanding of development finance information. At the core of the AidData program is the AidData web portal, which is a gateway to nearly 1 million records of development finance activities from donors around the world.
Enterprise Surveys
An Enterprise Survey is a firm-level survey of a representative sample of an economy’s private sector. The surveys cover a broad range of business environment topics including access to finance, corruption, infrastructure, crime, competition, and performance measures. The World Bank has collected this data from face-to-face interviews with top managers and business owners in over 130,000 companies in 125 economies.
Key Development Data & Statistics (World Bank)
The data presented here are the most widely-used, official-source development data from the World Bank and other international agencies, including external debt, GDP, and GNI per capita.
OECD iLibrary [UCSD Only]
Under Statistics see OECD International Development Statistics and OECD International Direct Investment for information on external debt, financial flows to aid recipients, and direct investment.
World Bank Private Participation in Infrastructure (PPI) Project Database
has data on almost 5,000 infrastructure projects in 139 low- and middle-income countries. The database is the leading source of PPI trends in the developing world, covering projects in the energy, telecommunications, transport, and water and sewerage sectors.

World Development Indicators
Statistical data on the global economy for over 200 countries. Contains time series data from 1960-current for over 550 development indicators.

Data that is represented here includes: stocks/equities; bonds; mutual funds; market indices; commodities; derivatives; foreign exchange; interest rates and company financials.

Compustat via WRDS
Provides annual and quarterly income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows, and supplemental data items on most publicly held companies. Also contains information on aggregates, industry segments, banks, market prices, dividends, and earnings. ACCESS: UC San Diego faculty, staff and students first must sign up for a WRDS account by using the Register link on the landing page. LIMITATIONS: Masters & Undergraduate students do not have access during summer or quarter breaks. UC San Diego affiliates without AD network accounts are ineligible for WRDS accounts (most Extension students are in this category). FRASER - Data & Statistics

Key Business Ratios
This online version of Dun & Bradstreet's Industry Norms and Key Business Ratios includes current benchmarking data for U.S. public and private businesses using parameters of solvency, profitability and efficiency for 800 lines of business. Cross National Time-Series (CNTS)
(1815-1973)
Longitudinal national data series for 167 nations. The CNTS archive includes national and international statistics from starting in 1815 on topics such as economic attitudes and behavior, political activities, political system characteristics, and social attitudes and behavior. (ICPSR)

Fitch Country Risk & Industry Research

SANDAG / SanGIS - GIS & Data Warehouse
SANDAG and SanGIS have teamed up to provide a single source of authoritative publicly available GIS data. This Regional Data Warehouse covers everything from addresses to zoning and includes such layers as roads/freeways, property and official city boundaries, freeways and major roads, census areas and statistics, community planning areas, lakes, streams, business zones, and many other geospatial topics. UCLA Anderson Forecast
This long-standing quarterly publication forecasts U.S. and California economies, that strives to be unbiased in its approach. Online back to 2011, and in print back to 1997. Partner publications from this site include:
