Selected resources for "smart devices" from the Android, Apple, and Blackberry families.

Introduction

Welcome all smart phone and tablet users. This guide brings together selected resources that have either a mobile-friendly interfaces or a dedicated app.

We invite your comments and would appreciate it if you would let us know if you encounter problems - or discover new resources that you think we should add to the guide.  Comment on any box, our contact information is along the right side, and new resource feedback boxes are on every page.

What to watch for on this guide?

  • Mobile friendly websites are designated by   and will link you to the mobile website for the resource.  VPN may be needed.
  • Mobile apps are designated with the appropriate symbol for the operating system.
Go to App Store Go to iTunes App Store

Not all resources have an app for each system.  We collect information on android, apple, blackberry, and kindle apps.  If you see a logo, it has a link to the app's location at that store.

Access Issues

Some resources require a UCSD subscription and some are simply free and are designated as [Free].  Some resources may require an account - set it up from the main site when here on campus (or using the VPN) - and some are available only when on campus via the UCSD-Protected network or off-campus via the UCSD Virtual Private Network (VPN).

The VPN for off-campus use is available for iPhones, iPads, Android, and Windows.  Find links to VPN installation online.
