Overview
The main purpose of the Library’s libguides subscription is to provide an easy to use web authoring tool for librarians (and library staff) to assist users with their learning and research needs by guiding them to UCSD subscribed resources as well as other authoritative resources. The guides can be one of three types:

From changing the password, to setting up or revising your profile, to much more advance feature, find all the options under Edit My Account once you have signed in.
First Time Logging in
- Go to the UCSD libguides page (libguides.ucsd.edu)
- Use the link
in the top right corner - Your Login ID is your email address
- Your password is a default password you were given - check your email
- Once logged in, change your password:
- Go to Edit My Account in the top right corner

- Enter your new - memorable - password
- Click Save Changes
Logging in All the Rest of the Times
- Go to the UCSD libguides page (libguides.ucsd.edu)
- Use the link
in the top right corner - Your Login ID is your email address
- Enter your chosen password
Help! I've Forgotten My Password
No problem. Simply contact the UCSD libguides administrators - see list on the right - to reset your password.
Set Up Your Profile Box
Extablishing your Profile Box
Experience has shown that it is best if you set up your profile early, so make it a first step if you don't have one yet. Profile boxes appear on every page so that users have an easy way to contact you. It can be hidden out of the way when needed. Many options are available to customize your profile. The following are some "bare minimums" suggested:
Profile Box Title: Needs to be short (it is usually in a narrow column) and could be your descriptive title. The default in My Profile.
Profile Image: Be sure to upload a picture of yourself.
Display Name: Type your name as you would like it to appear.
Email: Enter your email address
Website/Blog: Optional information - enter if you wish.
Contact Info: A place for all sorts of other contact information - e.g., phone number. IM and other 2.0 services are found elsewhere.
Subject Specialty: Optional information.
Chat widget: If you wish to be available for chat, enter the wideget code (e.g., meebo chat widget).
Additional fields: Optional information - this could be many types of info or HTML coding.
IM/Network User Names: Optional information. Enter those that you want to make available.
