PSYC 194A Honors Thesis: Free Access to Resources

PSYC 194A allows students to plan and carry out a research project under the guidance of psychology faculty. This guide will assist with that process by answering the most frequent questions received about research.

Get the Full-text for Free

The Library has licensed access to resources so that you don't have to pay for them. Here are possible solutions for acquiring full text.

Use Get It at UC Get it at UC logo

  • Some databases only include citations, so the Get it at UC link will search all the databases the UC San Diego Library licenses to locate the article.

Link Google Scholar to the Library

  1. Go to the Google Scholar homepage and click the three lines in the top left corner of the screen.

  2. Choose settings in the top right of the menu.

  3. Select Library Links from the left-side menu.

  4. Search for University of California, San Diego - Get It at UC.

  5. Click the check box next to this option and Save.

When you search for articles, you will now see an extra column with additional links on the right.  Where you see Get It at UC, click it to view online options to access the article.

Note: If you are not logged into the VPN, you will be asked to log in with your UCSD username and password when you choose an article.

Interlibrary loan when something isn't available

Use interlibrary loan to request materials the Library doesn't have access to. This service is for books, media, and other materials as well.

  • In UC Library Search, click request for the article you'd like to require.
  • Use the interlibrary loan form from the library's website under the Borrowing menu.
