For more information about standards and building codes, the groups and agencies that create standards/codes, and how to order or request other standards, see the Standards & Codes library guide.
There are a few standards from other organizations in the library collection, as well as books about applying or using a particular standard (for example, ISO 9001). Search UC Library Search for the organization and standard number. For example:
You can also expand the search to Books, Articles and More or WorldCat to see if there's a copy at another campus that can be requested. Consult the organization's website to make sure the standard you do find hasn't been superseded.
These are the standards collections held at UCSD Library (sorry, we don't have ISO). Remote access to the online standards collections is restricted to UCSD faculty, staff and students. Visitors can access the databases from the designated Public Computers in the library.
UCSD has access to the ASTM's Digital Library via ASTM Compass, which includes access to all of the ASTM standards (plus a few ISO and UOP standards), as well as their journals and symposia papers. Search by keyword or designation, or browse by topic/sub-topic. Do not use the regular www.astm.org website or Google to search for your standard, as you may be prompted to pay. If you don't see an option on the ASTM page to access the standard through Compass, then go to that page directly. The subscription is partly paid with the Library’s Engineering 25th Anniversary endowment, established by SDG&E (Sempra). |
