Search BIOSIS Citation Index

BIOSIS Citation Index is the best database to use for searching for articles about biology and ecology topics.

Sample searches of BIOSIS Citation Index:

  1. Spider behavior - increase retrieval by trying: spider* (behavior OR behaviour)
  2. Spider* habitat plant*
  3. Spider* hunt* plant*
    • Scroll down to find Literature Types, left hand side of search screen, click on More
    • Select Review Literature and click on Refine

Search Zoological Record

Zoological Record is the best database for animal biology.  Use it for any articles discussing systematics & taxonomy, evolution, life history, behavior, and conservation of any animal species.

Sample searches of Zoological Record:

  1. Spider* behavior plant*
  2. Spider* hunt* behavior
    • Refine the above search by selecting from the lists of species under Organisms, in the left hand area of search page
    • Select Araneae (around 72 references) and click on Refine

Off-campus access to UCSD resources
