Anthropology: Student's Practical Guide to Writing Papers: Corporate Authors (Organizations, etc.)

Corporate Authors (Organizations, Groups, etc.)

Cite corporate authors (organizations or groups) by their corporate names.

(National Anthropological Institute 2009)

(New York Museum of Taxidermy 2013)

A very long corporate name may be abbreviated. For example, the National Institute of Mental Health may be cited in the text as NIMH. However, the full corporate name must be used in the reference list. And you must be sure that you always provide enough information that a reader can find the source in the reference list without problems. If an individual can be identified as the author, the person rather than the organization should be cited.
