How to Read an Academic Article: Introduction: Help with Finding Articles

Guide to help new humanities and social science scholars with finding and using relevant research articles

Protected Wifi for On-Campus Access

On campus, use the UCSD-Protected Wifi (or RESNET-Protected) network to access our licensed electronic resources from a laptop or mobile device.

  • The UCSD guest wifi will get you online, but not to the databases, ebooks, and journals that we license.
  • If the Protected Wifi networks are slow, you can use the UCSD guest wifi AND VPN as if you were off campus.

Setting up and Using UCSD's Virtual Private Network (VPN)

If you are located on-campus, make sure that you are connected to the UCSD-Protected wifi.

If you are located off-campus, start by setting up VPN AnyConnect on your device.

The UC San Diego Health and Health Science VPN also provides off campus access to resources the Library provides. Instructions and assistance for UC San Diego Health and Health Science VPN users can be found in the Pulse intranet.
