New Math/Stats Resources

  • SIAM e-books  Icon
We've purchased the 2012 set of SIAM online monographs. Sort by reverse year to see the latest cataloged or go directly to SIAM at http://epubs.siam.org/ebooks/
  • Mathematics of Complexity and Dynamical Systems (2012)  Icon
Gathers together more than 100 mathematically-oriented, peer-reviewed entries from the 11-volume Encyclopedia of Complexity and Systems Science
  • Handbook of Mathematical Methods in Imaging (2011)  Icon
Provides a comprehensive treatment of the mathematical techniques used in imaging science. The material is grouped into two central themes, namely, Inverse Problems (Algorithmic Reconstruction) and Signal and Image Processing. Each section within the themes covers applications (modeling), mathematics, numerical methods (using a case example) and open questions. Written by experts in the area, the presentation is mathematically rigorous.
  • International Encyclopedia of Statistical Science (2011)  Icon
Offers quick, comprehensive and highly accessible information on statistical terms, methods and applications
  • Handbook of Geomathematics (2010)  Icon
Covers these scientific fields: (I) observational and measurement key technologies; (II) modelling of the system Earth (geosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, biosphere); (III) analytic, algebraic, and operator-theoretic methods; (IV) statistical and stochastic methods; (V) computational and numerical analysis methods; (VI) historical background and future perspectives.

Wireless & Off-Campus Access

Off-campus access (as well as on-campus wifi access) to most of these licensed electronic resources--databases, ejournals and ebooks--is restricted to UC San Diego students, faculty and staff. Make sure to set up your computer to access the e-resources you need.

  • Proxy Server
Make a simple change to your web browser settings to enable off-campus access for the electronic resources. For tablets and smartphones, you'll need to use VPN instead.
  • VPN (Cisco AnyConnect Client)

Download VPN software on your computer to get off-campus access. A good alternative if you're having problems with proxy. When connecting, select the 'althruucsd' setting. --Using the EasyConnect option (WebVPN) is not advised.
  • UCSD Encrypted Wireless
Use the UCSD-ENCRYPTED wi-fi network to access UCSD-licensed resources on your laptop or smartphone anywhere on campus.
