If there are no page numbers, which is common for online newspaper articles, that information is left out of the citation.
If there is no known author, start the citation with the title of the article instead. For the in-text citation, instead of the author name, just include the first word or words of the title of the article in quotation marks.
If the article has no publication date or may be updated after you access it, you can add the date you accessed the article to your citation. Date of access is optional in MLA 9th edition, but it is recommended for pages that may change frequently or that do not have a copyright/publication date.
If the newspaper has a very common title (e.g., The Chronicle), is a less well-known, or is a local publication, include the city name in brackets after the title of the newspaper.
