Absence Reporting

Planned Absences and Schedule Changes

  • Seek approval from your supervisor.  Once approved, add to both the SLA CX Service Schedule and the SLA Out Of Office calendar in Outlook.
    • Please use "Off" for planned absences
    • Please use "Out" for unplanned absences

Unplanned Absences/Delays

  •  Options:
    • Text 858-879-6451. Please be sure to identify yourself in the text message.
    • Email LibraryBorrowing@ucsd.edu
    • Call 858-534-0134 and speak with a person
  • All messages will be delivered to LibAnswers. 
    • Opening staff will review and notify/update schedules as appropriate.
    • Scheduled LibAnswers staff will manage notifications received throughout the day.

Out of Office Calendar

We have a calendar in SLA to help us note both planned and unplanned absences across the program.  The calendar is named “SLA Out of Office Calendar” and instructions for adding the calendar are linked below.  Please be sure to add absences as appropriate.  Absences can be added directly to the calendar or “invite” the calendar to an appt to have it appear.  Unit specific calendars that also note absences should continue to be used as identified by your unit. 

CX Limited Staff Protocol

When unplanned absences occur and cause limited staffing to meet the needs of our services, onsite CX staff should contact their direct supervisor immediately. If direct supervisor cannot be reached, contact another member of the CX Management team.

Services could be adjusted or suspended by discussion with CX Management. The Library Administration will make a decision on adjusting building hours for Geisel and WongAvery Library.
