UCSD has full access to these two sets of standards:
We have a few standards in other collections like Knovel, and a few more in the catalog. Some organizations also make some or all of their standards freely available as well. Check our Standards and Codes guide for more information.
UCSD faculty, staff, and students can request copies of standards we don't have through Interlibrary Loan, including ISO standards.
- While a few standards are held by other libraries in print, most standards have to be purchased.
- Due to the high cost of standards, the library cannot cover the ILL costs for standards
- If you do order a standard, ILL will contact you to confirm that you agree to pay the difference and method of payment (invoice or budget number). Otherwise, you may want to purchase directly if we cannot borrow a copy.
- Places to check standards pricing: IHS Standards Store, TechStreet, and ANSI Webstore.
We will sometimes purchase standards for the Library if there is merit in our having a local copy that will be used in the future. Faculty, staff and students may recommend a purchase of a particular standard for the collection.
