This guide attempts to help document the federal response to civil protests following the May 2020 murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer.

The guide compiles statements and actions from federal officials and offices. Sources regularly reviewed include:

• Department of Justice (and agencies such as the FBI and ATF)
• Department of Defense and military offices

The guide does not include newspaper or other press reports, unless those reports include primary source documents or media from federal officials.
