Preprint servers are open repositories where researchers can deposit their preprint, the version of the article that has been submitted for publication and has not yet been peer reviewed. If the preprint has since been peer reviewed and accepted for publication in a journal, there should be a link from the preprint to the article (which may or may not be paywalled) on the publisher's website.
