Chemistry & Biochemistry: Stay Current with Chemistry Research & News

Journal Article and TOC Alerts - Including BrowZine

There are several ways that you can keep up with newly published articles and tables of contents for new issues:

  1. Create accounts with the journal publishers and set up email/RSS alerts for those journals.
  2. Use BrowZine to create a "bookshelf" to select and monitor journals, scan the newest articles through a single webpage or mobile app,  save the articles you want to read later.

Database Search Alerts

All of our databases--including Web of Science, SciFinder, Reaxys, PubMed, and Compendex + Inspec--allow you to save searches and get alerts when new records matching your searches are added to those databases. All offer email alerting options, and most offer RSS feeds.

To set up alerts, you'll need to create a user account for that database. Since SciFinder-n requires a user registration, you can set up their "keep me posted" alerts once you login and begin searching.

Chemistry in the News

If you want to keep up with the latest news on your topic, a good starting place would be Google News. You may also want to try Nexis Uni, which indexes newspapers and trade publications, or Academic Search Complete, where you can filter results to see magazine, newspaper, and trade publications.

Below are good places to start if you want to browse recent news topics for something of interest. There is also science and technology coverage in the more general news sources like CNN, BBC, The New York Times, The Guardian, NPR, and more. Most of these stories are tied to one or more recently published scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles.
