Wireless & Off-Campus Access

Off-campus access (as well as on-campus wifi access) to most of these licensed electronic resources--databases, ejournals and ebooks--is restricted to UC San Diego students, faculty and staff. Make sure to set up your computer to access the e-resources you need.

  • Proxy Server
Make a simple change to your web browser settings to enable off-campus access for the electronic resources. For tablets and smartphones, you'll need to use VPN instead.
  • VPN (Cisco AnyConnect Client)

Download VPN software on your computer to get off-campus access. A good alternative if you're having problems with proxy. When connecting, select the 'althruucsd' setting. --Using the EasyConnect option (WebVPN) is not advised.
  • UCSD Encrypted Wireless
Use the UCSD-ENCRYPTED wi-fi network to access UCSD-licensed resources on your laptop or smartphone anywhere on campus.
