ArcGIS Online is an online, collaborative GIS that allows you to use, create, and share maps, scenes, apps, layers, analytics, and data. You get access to Living Atlas of the World, Business and Community Analyst apps, StoryMaps, Survey123, Esri's secure cloud, where you can add items and publish web layers and maps, and many other resources.
Campus ITS and the Library at UC San Diego have worked to enable Single Sign-On (SSO) for ArcGIS.com, which is licensed to affiliates of UC San Diego.
There are TWO ways to sign into the UC San Diego ArcGIS Online account. Both will work to setup an account and to log on in the future.
The TWO options to sign into the UC San Diego ArcGIS Online account will work for setting up an account and for logging on in the future. It doesn't matter which option you use to create your account or which option you choose to connect in the future. Both will work.
Once you have gone through the UC San Diego SSO Login (dual authentication may be required) you should be redirected to the homepage of the UC San Diego ArcGIS Online Organization (ucsdonline.maps.arcgis.com).
Whenever you use Esri or ArcGIS resources, you will want to sign in using the Enterprise login and the “ucsdonline” as the organization’s address URL. Your affiliation with UC San Diego’s AGO will give you access to resources that are not otherwise available to someone outside of an AGO.
Note: Just because you can sign on to ArcGIS Online, does not mean you are affiliated with the UC San Diego AGO. Public accounts exist, but these accounts do not have access to all the training resources, and additional apps (Community Analyst, Business Analyst, etc.). Check the URL and ensure that you are connecting using your AD credentials.
