BayGeo serves as a forum where people involved with geospatial technology and related technologies can learn about the latest software and tools, industry news, local & national events in the San Francisco Bay Region. A chapter of URISA.

Centralized GIS organization for the California State University system. Appears to be a good model of coordination across a large distributed campus system.

A California non-profit, statewide association.

Excellent site for free GIS data specific to San Diego County. Also created some new visualizations using GIS data that are interesting to see. To get to the Data Warehouse, go to the left side navigation under "Resources" and choose "Demographics and Other Data".

One of the best sites to get GIS data for San Diego. Almost 100 free GIS data layers available for public download. Majority of these, including historical dates, are available through the Geisel Library Data & GIS Lab with improved metadata.

The UC GIS Hub is a community to connect with colleagues across the University of California system and to talk, share, and learn about geospatial technology and its applications. The UC GIS Hub is also home to resources on geospatial software, data, training, and more.

The Data & GIS Services Program promotes data sharing and updating to enhance southern California region-wide GIS data standardization and helps SCAG maintain effective working relationships with its member cities and key stakeholder agencies. Currently 79 local jurisdictions and two partner agencies.

This is a United States-wide program to collect and disseminate satellite imagery in support of a variety of uses, including education, workforce development, research and technology transfer. You can look at the Membership tab to see what states are participating, and from there, you can find the individual state sites.

The metadata and standards agency for the United States for spatial data. Don't forget about the metadata - it is critical!! The FGDC also publishes a newsletter which can be found on the Library section of their website.

GITA is a professional association and is focused on infrastructure, utilities, the public sector and the telecom industry.

A good portal to find out information about the geospatial industry for students, educators and those interested in or in the industry.

MAGERT is ALA's geospatial group and has been in existence for over forty years. The group provides publications and resources specific to maps and geospatial information.

This organization helps support teachers and educators about how to incorporate a geographic component into their work.

The NGA is focused on imagery and map based resources for US national defense and security. While much of the site is restricted, there is good information on NGA products such as imagery, geographical names or DEMs.

This national organization is dedicated to GIS advocacy and the adoption of geospatial information technologies.

This organization is focused on fostering multidisciplinary research and education, promote GIScience and analysis, and speak for the geographic information science research community.

The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) is a membership based organization that provides education and training, a vibrant and connected community, advocacy for geospatial challenges and issues, and essential resources for GIS professionals throughout their careers. They have local chapters and offer various conferences.

The OGC is a "non-profit, international, voluntary consensus standards organization that is leading the development of standards for geospatial and location based services." They have listed standards, a newsletter, events and more.

This organization is specifically positioned to "support and build the highest-quality open source geospatial software". Has a great tool that helps you find an open source technology that best fits your needs.

Self-described as a "non-profit organization that builds community, provides knowledge and supports individuals using GIS and science for the conservation of natural resources and cultural heritage."

Women+ in Geospatial organized in 2019 and has grown into a global community of more than 4100 women+ working in the geospatial community and academia. They run a mentorship program, organize events and a webinar series on career development and developed a speakers database.
